Using GPS

After the Option GPS Control Panel has been downloaded, it must be turned on.

  1. 1. Open the Control Panel from the Option folder in your start menu.
  2. 2. Click the orange button to activate GPS. The button will turn green and the device will start to acquire the GPS satellite data to find your location.
  3. 3. The GPS status will turn to Active once your location has been determined, which can take up to 10 minutes or so, depending on your location.

Note: For optimal GPS performance, Velocity should be used with the USB extension cable and clip, and connectivity is best achieved outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Once GPS is turned on and active, the Control Panel has three useful features:

  • Show My Location: Shows your current location using Yahoo! Maps --from there you can do local searches and get directions.
  • Search Near Me: Displays local search results from Yellowpages.com based on your location using Bing maps.
  • Directions From Here: Displays driving directions based on your current GPS locations using Bing maps.
